Ein „Mammut aus Klängen“ wird den schönen Ausstellungssaal der "Galerie
der Stadt Wels" füllen, wenn die vier Herren aus Berlin ihre Instrumente
im kollektiven Miteinander und bei ihren Solis in perfekter Beherrschung
ausreizen. Die Musik dieses außergewöhnlichen Quartetts kennt
offensichtlich keine musikalischen Gesetze, zumindest keine üblichen:
heftige, improvisierte Musik vom Feinsten.
Selbstbeherrschung scheint hier nicht notwendig zu sein,
Instrumentenbeherrschung dafür umso mehr. Richtig gefährlich wird’s aber
selten: Auch die durchtriebenen Klangkolosse wollen schließlich nur
spielen, und sind auf gelöste Art konzentriert, freundlich und bescheiden.

für dezibelträchtige, markante, im doppelten Sinn unüberhörbare Töne gut
ist: Matija Schellander ist einer jener stiloffenen Soundforscher
zwischen vielerlei Genrestühlen, die für viele das Salz in der Suppe der

Otto Zitko „Zustand 2“
"Eine Linie, die Otto Zitko zieht, wenn er malt, setzt die Linie fort,
welche der Künstler schon vor langem begonnen hat." (Herbert Lachmayr)
Otto Zitko zählt sein Jahrzehnten zu einer der interessantesten
Erscheinungen im internationalen Kunstbetrieb. Vor über 20 Jahren
realisierte er eine spektakuläre Wandzeichnung in der Galerie der Stadt
Wels (White Cube). Die aktuelle Ausstellung wird er in den zwei Wochen
vor der Eröffnung erarbeiten, für den Galerieraum entwarf er ein
spezielles Raumkonzept mit überdimensionalen Malflächen. Otto Zitko
(geboren in Linz, aufgewachsen in Wels) studierte von 1977 bis 1982 an
der Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst in Wien bei Herbert Tasquil und
Peter Weibel. Seit den 1980er Jahren beschäftigt sich Otto Zitko mit der
Zeichnung als malerisches Mittel, die er, von der Ölmalerei kommend,
nicht als vorbereitende Skizze oder Studie zur Malerei betrachtet,
sondern als „Zeichnung, vom Standpunkt der Malerei aus argumentiert“.
Die Ausstellung läuft noch bis 19. Mai 2013 in der Galerie der Stadt Wels.
